HEAD COACH KEVIN MAUREEN CAMPBELL

Kevin Maureen Campbell Head Volleyball CoachKevin Maureen Campbell joined the Dartmouth volleyball program in June of 2023.

Campbell becomes just the fourth head coach in program history after spending each of the last three seasons at VCU, where she arrived as an assistant coach and later served as the Rams’ interim head coach during the 2022 season. The 1995 University of Nebraska Omaha graduate helped lead the team to an 18-12 overall record with a 13-2 mark in the Atlantic 10 during an impressive 2021 campaign with two athletes earning first team all-conference honors. Campbell guided the Rams to a 14-17 (9-9) record as the interim head coach in 2022 as VCU ranked among the top 20 nationally in digs per set, leading the Atlantic 10.

Campbell previously spent four seasons at NC State (2016-19) and helped lead the Wolfpack to a historic 2017 season, which featured a program-best 15 ACC wins and the team’s first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. NC State garnered 11 All-ACC selections, including three first-team honorees, in Campbell’s four seasons. She was promoted to associate head coach prior to the decorated 2017 campaign after serving as an assistant in 2016. Primarily coordinating the team’s defense, the Wolfpack ranked in the top five among ACC teams in digs per set in each of Campbell’s four seasons.

Before her successful stint at NC State, Campbell was the associate head coach for two seasons at San Diego State (2014-15) and spent the 2013 season as an assistant coach at Colorado. She was instrumental in helping guide the Buffaloes to a resurgent campaign with the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance — and victory — since 2006.

Campbell gained five years of head coaching experience at North Florida, where she led the Ospreys from five wins as a Division II program in 2007 to 16 victories at the Division I level in 2011, her final season at the helm. North Florida landed three All-ASUN selections under Campbell, including Paige Pridgeon, who was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year in 2009 and later earned first-team accolades in 2011. North Florida completed its transition to Division I status in 2009 and Campbell led the program to its first ASUN Tournament appearance in 2010.

Campbell spent two seasons as an assistant coach at perennial power Penn State under legendary head coach Russ Rose, a five-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Coach of the Year honoree, beginning in 2005. The Nittany Lions won a pair of Big Ten championships during that stretch and Campbell coached four Olympians, including AVCA Player of the Year recipients Nicole Fawcett and Megan Hodge. Campbell’s earlier stops included UNC Charlotte (2000-04), Ohio University (1999) and Winthrop (1998).

Campbell recorded more than 1,000 career kills in four seasons as a student-athlete at Omaha and earned a pair of All-North Central Conference accolades, plus an AVCA All-North Central Region nod as a senior in 1994.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Campbell graduated from Omaha in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in history. She went on to earn a master’s in educational leadership from North Florida in 2012 and is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership through VCU.
